The Seventh Congress became a globally significant event. Over
100 delegations from
50 countries participated in the forum of leaders of world and traditional religions, including spiritual leaders of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoism, Shinto, Zoroastrianism, and others. Representatives of international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, UNESCO, and the World Islamic League were also present.
Notable Participation Special attention was given to the personal participation of Pope Francis, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, heads of Jewish religious communities, as well as leaders of Orthodox, Protestant, and Eastern traditions. Their presence highlighted the Congress as a unique platform for dialogue and peace.
Thematic Sessions Four thematic sections were held:
- Spiritual and moral values in contemporary society
- The role of education and religious enlightenment in strengthening respectful coexistence of cultures and religions
- The contribution of religious and political leaders to interreligious dialogue, countering extremism and terrorism
- The role of women in sustainable development and the importance of religious communities in strengthening their status
Final Declaration of the Seventh Congress- The final document included 35 points, covering post-pandemic recovery, countering violence and aggressive rhetoric, support for affected populations, digital equality, promotion of a culture of mutual respect, and measures against extremism
- The Secretariat’s mandate included developing the Concept for the Congress’s development for 2023–2033 and recognizing Kazakhstan as a key international center for interreligious dialogue
Confronting Conflicts and the Pandemic The Congress condemned the use of force and hostile rhetoric, noting their destructive impact on international relations, and emphasized that pandemics and humanitarian crises can only be overcome through solidarity, compassion, and joint efforts.
Symbolic and Cultural Initiatives The Peace and Concord Park was created, where more than 60 trees were planted—representing the number of heads of delegations at the Congress (symbolizing friendship and unity among confessions).
